Apple sues OpenAI

Wow, yeah this was all over the news. Reading through the complaint document I found a couple of interesting points:

  1. Mr Liu (the ex employee who defected to OpenAI) failed to return an apple issued work laptop
    1. While i don't think this matters they added this point to show the lack of integrity on his part
  2. While working at OpenAI he accessed and use former's colleague's laptop that was authorized on Apple's network (how they proof this i guess will be in court)
  3. Apparently there was a previously known auth bug to access Apple's shared network folders
  4. He left messages on his ex colleague's apple issued laptop with messages like "LOL", "so funny"
Documents that were extracted include CAD designs and proprietary documents related to hardware development.

They're not just suing OpenAI they're also suing IO (Jony Ive) the company OpenAI bought earlier. So there is some corporate espionage / theft etc... So this might be quite a big case.
