At least not in 2024, supposedly.

Looking forward to the E.U. deciding this is illegal too for some reason.

Me, I think Apple should be producing specific SKU's for EU (big, thick things that any fat-fingered idiot can work on). Maybe plastic clips holding them together for quicker disassembly. (for those of us that are older, think of the IBM PS/2's from the early 90's) :D If people want the better iPhones, they can make the trek to the UK and buy the ones that aren't compliant with their localized legislation.

But, yes, USB-C is so much better for everyone than lightning. :) (but I also think their intent is to do away with the port entirely).

Well it's not that shocking. Those 3 features manage some of the most sensitive data users have. If Apple rolls the features in the EU and regulators decide that 3rd parties should also be able to create their own implementations, that could be a catastrophic privacy/issue.

Hey they got rid of the lightning port for us ,,,,,,,,,😊

Contrary to popular belief, I tend to disagree with the idea that Apple was somehow going to stick with the Lightning connector forever and that EU regulations were what made them change their minds. I mean. Lightning was older at the time of the iPhone 15 launch than the 30 pin connector was when the first Lightning iPhone was announced.

They also did mention at the iPhone 5’s introduction that Lightning would be the port for the next decade and the 14 was the 10 year point. Makes sense that the 15 would be when they switch.
