Encrypted HFS+ Being removed in macOS 27

Presumably other Core Storage backed HFS+ features like fusion drives will be removed too.

Hope nobody suffers data loss due to this. They will warn but still. Personally I don’t have any remaining hfs+ drives.

Not sure how I feel about it. I can’t see much win in removing it. Keeping support in an unmaintained state would be fine. I’m generally fine with cleaning up crusts but file system support is allowed to live long I think. We still support MBR FAT drives after all.
 
Yeah, I agree. Though it is certainly Apple’s “way” to remove stuff “early.”
 
Am I going crazy or did this thread use to have more posts yesterday? I seem to remember even seeing a link to the support article.

The recovery from backup wiped them. That presumably is also why I don't have an "edit" button for the OP. - See the Site News thread for info

Well if you’ve got any encrypted hfs plus backups or data storage drives laying around action is required. Otherwise not affected. In an update to Tahoe macOS will warn when attaching encrypted hfs+ drives that their time is running out
