Entering flights that cross time zones

I used to enter the start and end times based on the location where my flight originated, but that made it harder to see when I'd arrive at a glance. macOS calendar supports floating time zones, so the start and end times stay the same no matter where you are, but the duration isn't accurate. The calendar app in iOS and iPadOS let you set different time zones for the start and end, but the times change as you cross zones. That the macOS app does this differently from the iOS and iPadOS apps makes it even more frustrating.

How do y'all do this?

Maybe because iOS and iPad OS are meant as mobile operating systems, and Mac is not?

Yes, that may be why the apps are different, though I was mostly wondering if there's a better way to do this than the methods I listed. Of the three, it seems that using floating time zones is the best, since it at least lets you see when the flights begin and end.

I always enter absolute times. That is, I enter in the location's time zone so that if I've gone west, I don't worry about getting to the airport two hours late. I also enter both departures and arrival manually.
