This really bugs me. Google Chrome has become the new Internet Explorer. A bunch of proprietary features only available in their browser. Then web developers use these Chrome-only features instead of writing code that works in all standards-compliant browsers.
And in regards to Google’s monopoly power, I believe Chrome compatibility factors into your pagerank on Google searches. Yep, they need to be broken up.
Wait, isn't it open source?
Seriously? IE4 is still a thing? I get keeping vintage stuff around but not when it comes to accessing the internet.
I have no clue why they insist on using Internet Explorer 4 (a web browser that was released almost
25 years ago!). Were they actually referring to Internet Explorer 11? If so, that would make more sense.

Hence the anti-competitive behavior to use the search results to favor sites optimized for Chrome.

Hey, there's always Bing.
...don't diss it. It's decent enough, and I get $5 in Amazon gift cards every month through Microsoft's we'll-pay-you-to-love-us program.
Yeah, Bing is great for the rewards. You can use it to pay off your Xbox Game Pass subscription.
I default to Duck Duck Go, think they've improved well over time. Once in awhile I'll launch Safari and give the same terms a shot w/ Google but usually I've been specific enough that I'm gonna get the same or nearly same results.
Funnily enough, DuckDuckGo is powered by Bing for its search results.
As a Safari user, I feel your pain though. I tested out Mozilla Firefox just a couple of weeks ago. Target's website refused to load correctly. To make matters worse, the position of the cursor couldn't be placed after a citation in Wikipedia, and XenForo (yes, TalkedAbout is affected by this) has very similar issues.
Since updating to XF 2.2.7 when using 2 emoji's in a row the second one will start a new line. Using Windows 10 and Firefox 92.0. Checked here and confirmed it happens.

When posting and adding a smilie using Firefox on a PC the cursor position cannot be placed after the smilie in the post but instead is placed in front of it meaning that if you want to continue typing after the smilie it is impossible without moving the smilie to the end of the type. This...
