for some reason the apple like sports band is causing a rash this year. I have a Milanese Loop but it tends to come unadjusted during the day and worse if have long sleeves. I like the cloth based one but they get smelly. any other ideas?

If the sports band didn't cause a rash previously, then something else might be the reason. Are you using a different brand of soap than before? Is your workout space (either indoors or outdoors) more humid than in the past? Make any big changes to your diet? Any or all of those could be a factor.

These knock-off link bands are almost identical to Apple's (and very inexpensive)

Aliexpress

We have two of them . I have the black and rose gold for my wife. I also have the original Apple link band (bought with the first generation watch). All that "space black" goodness with the DLC PVD coating. :)

The Apple band has several scratches on it. :) Years of great use out of it (think it was $750 at the time? - my first Apple Watch cost around $1600 CDN).

I've worn the counterfeit band many times - still no scratches - so quite likely it also has a durable PVD coating.

Edit: And here's another one on Temu

been sick a lot had covid I think and the effects lasted a month got sick again because I was shut so worn out then the flue or something and thats still lingering. but even before that I have been getting heat rashes a bit and I never used to.

I have a cheap loop band knockoff, which I like, but I don't know if you would have the same issue as with the more expensive Apple one.

I can't say that I notice having to constantly readjust my band, but, now that I think about it, I probably am adjusting over the course of the day. Also, over time the hooks have stated to pry loose and get caught on things, so there's that. :) Still like it though as it is breathable.

I recently stumbled on this brand (via IG), they're really making a big deal about comfort and being cool/sweat free:

From the site ...

WHY IT'S THE BEST IN THE WORLD

Standard watch bands turn your wrist into a swamp. Ours uses patented grooves to channel air in and push moisture out. Your wrist stays dry, and the band stays comfortable. Simple. Clean. Effective.
  • Breathable groove design
  • Soft, skin-safe materials
  • Secure closure
  • 94-year No BS Groove Guarantee

That is a nice design. Though I have had silicone rings and other things and constant contact with oils causes them to break down and stretch. like cpap masks only last a month or so.

I mean, they have a pretty extensive warranty and it's 30 day return and apparently no questions asked.

I'm thinking about scoring one in orange :)

yes they charge a shipping fee each time, usually so its not free.Silicone just gets sloppy with skin oil on it all the time.

I've had two magnetic loop bands, one from Apple and a knockoff, and haven't had any problems with loosening or catching. I like that they're easy to readjust if they're a bit tight.

I think it's a adhd thing having to adjust it all the time irritates me. at night it can really slip of if I am wearing multiple shirts in the winter then I dont even bother trying to wear it.

I find the easiest way to clean the cloth / nylon ones is to just put them in a mason jar with hot water and a splash of laundry detergent. Shake the hell out of it and let it soak for a couple of hours. If you have multiple such bands, that makes it easy enough to be without one of them for a day for washing and air drying. :)

Oh..and one of my favourite bands is a Clockwork Synergy NATO strap. Bought back in 2017 - one of the connectors just lost a screw so I'll need to get new Apple connectors for it. :)

I don't want the hassle of taking off a band and cleaning it. I only remove a band when I have to. but I bought 3 different bands from alixpress for around 15.00 total or so.

Heh. Virtually ANY band, you're going to clean it. Even the sport bands get funky and need to be washed every now and then. :D

That goes back to the old debate. Tim Cook's quote "Yes, I shower with mine" - says the CEO making millions and getting free devices as perks anytime he likes.

The jets in your shower head exceed the water resistance of the watch.....but ok. :)
