This appears to be a lot more capable than I expected, providing different templates, allowing both bar codes and QR codes, allowing you to edit what fields appear, etc.

Personally, I would rarely have use for this because “add to apple wallet” has become so ubiquitous, but occasionally things come up.

I think this is just one example of useful improvements in iOS 27 and other platform OSs. I don't recall exactly what was said about this feature in the keynote, but it's just one example of how Apple wasted an opportunity to better highlight changes that will make a meaningful difference in day-to-day use.

One of the current bugs in wallet is that if the passes have a time (ex boarding passes) - that makes them launch a notification window on your lock screen - but then you can't clear it.

I had put my wife's boarding passes on my phone (she's flying back from Toronto this morning) -had to remove the passes to get rid of that annoying notification on the lock screen.

When you long press on the notification and select "Use Pass" that should be sufficient to clear the reminder.
