Mac constant forced restarts are getting as bad as Microsoft

It seems like it’s happening weekly now. I’ll wake up and login only to find another forced restart that is paused because I had something open and unsaved. I then save and it goes through 15 minutes of updates and reboots.

Yes, I guess I should read every prompt which happens so much now it’s ad nauseam.

They can do better, I know it’s an older M1 Studio but it’s ridiculous.

Turn off automatic updates in system preferences? My mac never reboots unless I tell it to.

I too have an M1 Studio, automatic updates is turned on yet I don’t experience this?!

Like Cliff, mine only reboots when I direct it to…?

Is it worth getting your machine checked?

I'm just being lazy, I appreciate everyone not pointing and laughing. I get the prompts all the time and just ignore them so it eventually forces it on me which I normally don't mind every now and then but lately it's been like twice a week.

it should only force it on you if it is a critical security update - I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those.

In the last month it's happened at least 3 times that I can recall, I have never changed any of the default settings so I can only assume it's due to automatic updates. I'll shut them off.
 
I have automatic updates turned on too. M1Max MBP16” and can not remember when it forced me to restart if ever.

Do you have any specific software installed, that could force restarts?
