Main Camera
Sony

I am surprised that Apple hasn't done this already. A partnership with a high-end camera maker would seem very Apple, but maybe there would have been a clash of corporate cultures. Who knows???

As someone who only got to hold a Hasselblad X1 DII once in his hands, I knew I wasn't worthy of such a marvelous camera. However, if the price wasn't too outrageous, I would consider this as a secondary phone, or at least it has piqued my interest.

Apple’s culture is to simply become very good at a thing, and build up their own reputation. No need to pay Leica or Hasselblad mostly for the privilege of using their name. (Plus, I guarantee you that the average consumer interested in phones for photography never heard of Hasselblad).

Another way to look at it - Sony is very well known for cameras. They also sell sony phones. How’s that working out for them? Know a lot of people in America with Xiaomi/Leica phones?

It’s just not a useful marketing scheme, and, in the meantime, most photographs are now taken using iPhones, movies are made with iPhones, etc.

I could *almost* see Apple buying a company like Leica (it’s for sale!) due to market overlap, etc. But the same could have been said about many high end watch companies, and instead Apple just became the number one watch company on its own, so there’s no chance they would take a different approach here.

What I *could* see happening, eventually, is Apple launching a line of iPhones optimized for photography, which would be thicker, etc. They may be heading down that road already, with “pro” being the “photography” phone, and “ultra” (the foldable) being the product line for people who want the best pocket computer and don’t care as much about photography.
