This appears to be rose spirea, a plant I was not familiar with, but the bumblers were.

Apparently it has salicylates in its fruit and/or leaves/bark: "spirea" is the root of "aspirin".

It depends on whether you're the pet and, depending on what species of pet, well, then it really matters. In this case the Dog seems to love it, a Cat (maybe), a Crocodile (probably a no-cuddling policy is advised).

On occasion, we used to put a sock on one our cats heads to watch them trying to to back out of it. They did not seem to be traumatized by it, or even annoyed (which was not our intent, so this was good) and once we pulled it off, they were like, what was that?
