General Single eye 3D effect on iPad when watching video

This is going to sound odd (the wife told me I was ‘special’) because it doesn’t make any sense to me. That said I’ve noticed that when watching films or TV shows in my iPad (especially at night or at least when it’s dinmly lit), that if I close my right eye and watch only with my left, that I become very cognizant of a 3D type effect of the item I’m watching. It’s almost as if I can see things in layers where foreground items really do feel like they’re in the foreground, and my brain almost creates it’s own bokeh type effect.

No idea if this is normal if if the wife is indeed correct.

It’s certainly an odd experience and I don’t get it when watching with both eyes.

I don’t have 20/20 vision and if I remember correctly my left eye is slightly weaker than the right.

I don’t even play an optometrist on TV, so I can’t begin to guess. But it could be worth asking your optometrist.
