Allegedly EU is demanding all AI companies be allowed to plug in to replace siri’s gemini-based models/servers. Apple won’t do that, because of privacy.
 
Good. Screw 'em.

Apple is better off taking the sales hit in the EU market rather than let their AI platform be compromised on day one. Apple can and should play the long game here.
 
It's insane. It's not that hard to see that giving random 3rd parties access to *literally everything* on your iPhone and forbidding any guardrails coming from the system is a terrible idea.
 
What they need is a "working but unsupported" way to flip the phone to full-feature mode when out of the EU, and for that to continue to work when the device gets back to the EU. "Who me? I'm not selling AI features here."

It works if you're signed in to an Apple Account based in a country outside the EU.
