Longtime Mad Magazine cartoonist Al Jaffee has died at age 102. He was best known for the Fold-Ins and Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions, two of my favorites. I can only imagine some of the lines at his funeral. "Is he really dead? No, he's just trying out the coffin in case he's asked to play Count Dracula in a movie."

I don't think today's kids would appreciate Mad's version of humor.

I remember getting my allowance as a kid and going down to the local five and dime and getting a new one every month.

I think many would get the satire, especially their parodies of TV shows and movies.

I also recall looking forward to new issues of Mad. I think they were 20 cents or so. I once considered asking for a subscription, but never did. (I could have pointed out that the paper would be useful for wrapping fish and lining bird cages.)
