Nothing more to say, other than that Tim Cook confirmed the new personalized Siri will come out soon, and it will run on Apple's groundbreaking Private Cloud Compute, despite a "report" Mark Gurman falsely claiming otherwise.

And no, despite commentary from long time trolls on Apple blogs and social media platforms, Google's "Private AI Compute" is not even remotely close to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, and Google did not "make" this platform for Apple. That is easily verified on your own. I won't provide analysis.

You can read more here:

Mark Gurman being wrong once again. Now he's claiming Apple Intelligence and Siri are two separate things unrelated. No, Gurman, you're wrong.

Siri is described as being powered by Apple Intelligence.

"With the capabilities provided by Apple Intelligence, this year marks the start of a new era for Siri. Get things done effortlessly with built-in intelligence features that make Siri more helpful to you every day."

This is directly what Apple says.

When Sundar Pichai says on earnings that "We are collaborating with Apple as their preferred cloud provider and to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models, based on Gemini technology."

This means that Google will continue providing cloud services to Apple, for both iCloud related stuff, and machine learning TPU training. It also means they're collaborating with them to help develop transformers models too. Apple has confirmed both things.

It does NOT mean Apple is running the new personalized Siri on Google servers.

Google's business is trying to prop up cloud services, so anytime they can mention that they're a provider of that to anyone they wil mention it, let alone to Apple.

I am so tired of hearing Gurman's bullshit being constantly regurgitated with zero thought by all these blogs

the more personalized version of ‌Siri‌, will use a custom model Apple built in collaboration with Google's Gemini team.

But then they screed it up and said it was using Gemini in the literal next sentences lol.

Anyways, then they followed it with this trash

Siri‌ is not going to work as a chatbot, so the updated version will not feature long-term memory or back-and-forth conversations, plus Apple plans to use the same voice-based interface with limited typing functionality. Siri‌ will work like Claude or ChatGPT, able to understand and engage in back and forth conversation.

This is 100% inaccurate aside from no long term memory of conversations, which Apple never promised nor makes a chatbot (because if it did, Opus et al wouldn't be Chatbots since they haven't done long term memory of conversations until just now).

Siri will be able to type to, back and forth converse, and follow up. As I said in my Gurman critique of "Siri isn't a chatbot," I have zero clue what "chatbot" features are coming to Siri that Apple hasn't already said (and none of those are chatbot features)

Sounds like the 27 OS’s will have some sort of place where you can go and see and interact with prior Siri conversations, at least. In some sense chatbot-like, though I suspect it will be something different than what we’ve seen from contemporary LLM chatbots.

It's funny because "type-to-Siri" has been there for ages. Double tapping the home indicator on my phone brings up type to Siri already. They may not be radically altering that experience but I don't see neither type n'or speak to Siri going anywhere, if nothing else, for accessibility reasons
