That inpp approach sounds familiar … though I prefer Notebookcheck’s approach of simply disabling the screen and connecting to an external though I can see an argument both ways and I think NBC also does this too. But subtracting out the idle from the total … hmmmm …

On a separate note: Man I wish someone would give chips and cheese an M4/M5 Mac to test out.
