Click and drag on MBP trackpad

I can't seem to figure this one out. When I want to click and drag across an area (say half the screen) on the Microsoft Surface trackpad I can click and hold in one spot (like the top left) with one finger and then drag across to highlight my area with my other finger. I cannot do this on the MBP, I can only click and drag at the same time with one finger which limits the amount of space I can cover. Is there a gesture for this?
