Building rockets engines, especially ones this efficient and pushing the boundaries of what is possible with current material science is not an easy task. Rapid development and catastrophic mistakes are a big part of SpaceX’s engineering ethos.

Agree. SpaceX has been developing rapidly, changing the design of the Starship, including its Raptor engines, frequently. Incidents like this, although disappointing, aren’t that surprising. Here’s a good review:

I’m not a Musk fan, but SpaceX’s achievements have been remarkable.
