I know it'll be hard to keep this free of politics but maybe the fact that Jerome Powell has served under both Democratic and Republican presidents will help us to look at his role and POV objectively, because he seems like a stable man just trying to do the job that the Senate confirmed him for.

The current president had been threatening Powell for months because he wouldn't bend on lowering the federal funds rate, which would result in a lowering of consumer interest rates. I have a feeling this either won't go anywhere or will result in an acquittal.

Most likely the administration charges him, then immediately nominates a new fed chair, and we end up with a mess in court.

One would think being appointed by the Senate would offer some protections.
 
What's bizarre is that apparently he's being investigated for his testimony he gave to the Senate regarding the Federal Reserve buildings being renovated. Which has zip to do with Powell's performance and how he sets the fed funds rate.

It’s all about retribution.
