Maybe he should run for president instead.

Foo Fighters are reportedly set to go on an indefinite hiatus following the news that frontman Dave Grohl fathered a child outside of his marriage.

The former Nirvana drummer, 55, announced he had a baby with an as-yet unnamed woman, after being married to actress and film producer Jordyn Blum, 48, since 2003, sharing three children with her. But Dave hasn't given up hope, and is hoping to win back the trust of his family after his betrayal, although it will come at a cost - his band Foo Fighters will be put on the backburner while he sorts out his messy personal life.

I cannot tell you how big a thing this is in my life. I introduced my wife to the foo fighters a couple decades ago when i took her to a festival. (She went to a christian college and missed out on ‘90’s rock). She is absolutely in love with Grohl. She worships him. Thinks he’s the best guy ever. They are the same age. She talks about him incessantly. One day I read the news about him and realize she never told me. She knew, of course, and was just keeping quiet about it.

Anyway, now I keep pointing out how much better I am than Dave Grohl, which of course makes for a very healthy marriage.

Small loss musically. I’ve never understood the appeal of The Foo Fighters.

I don't mind their music but never really thought of it as anything great. However, their love and loyalty for Rush has always stood out to me so I've always had a lot of respect for them as a result.

you a Rush guy?!?! I’m a huge Rush fan. Been to more than a dozen concerts. For Hold Your Fire tour, in binghamton, NY, I got to eat dinner with them (a friend’s uncle was their lighting guy) and I still have a signed program. I think I was 16.

The other day I caught my daughter listening to the B-side of 2112 on a hand-me-down boombox in her room, and I’ve never been prouder.

Bringing my wife into it again, this is a text exchange I had with her the other day:

I like to consider myself THE Rush guy (as I'm sure most of us do lol).

Let's put it this way, I feel like they shaped my youth for the better through both their musicianship and professionalism. Neil has always been a personal hero of mine and I literally mourned for a week after his passing, which I had no idea was coming (like most of us).

As a musician I've always studied them and to this day am still amazed at some of the complex material they've written, I'm often steeped in deep tracks, 2112 (the entire album), Natural Science, etc. and to this day still work on Alex's guitar challenging parts, most of which I can pull of now.

I could go on but you get the point, awesome to see another devoted fan here!

BTW It's funny how many right wingers have quoted The Trees as their anthem over the years, that along with Neil's early toutings of Ayn Rand, but later in life he pushed back against those like Rand Paul for hating women and brown people. Of course coming from Canada where they have socialized healthcare likely had something to do with that.

Awesome! BTW, ever hear the Richard Cheese version of Trees? It’s good for a laugh.

I can see it on YT but looks like it's been taken down. 🤷‍♂️

What throws me is their massive commercial success given what music they’re putting out. It’s like empty sounds to me. His vocals are a bit hoarse but not in an interesting way, the instrumentals are just a loud “rock noise” with no hooks my ears can grab onto. It’s like it’s free music for YouTube vids and everyone somehow said “Wow, what a great rock band” and I’m like “What is everyone hearing that I don’t?” It confounds me.

Exactly. I liked their first album. I liked “all my life” (or whatever that song is called). But everything else for the last 10 or 15 years has sounded like a guitar tune-up session. Just loud, with no hooks.

I think Grohl, being different from most frontmen (Jagger, Mercury, Plant, Tyler, etc), being out there in the public eye a lot, active outside of Nirvana doing charitable work, helping to raise money for causes, etc. rubs off on and has helped the band's popularity a lot.

I think they use the same sonic wizardry as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a sound that really resonates with some people but for most they fail to hear anything that justifies the height of success they have reached. It’s slightly unique but also derivative. I think the PR machine of the old music industry plays a big part as well.

An affair cancels a rock band tour and a geriatric sexual-assaulting felon is the conservative nominee for president.

If Trump wanted to make America great again, he’d exit the race in shame and the Foo Fighters would be back on the road.

Dave Grohl (who is originally from the DC area) has the ability to feel shame and remorse, while Individual-ONE, when is caught misbehaving, simply gets mad at his accusers and anyone who supports them – "shame" and "remorse" are things for other people to feel, especially his victims.
