It was apparently not CO poisoning. It looks odd, but the sheriff says signs of foul play are not evident.

They'll get to the bottom of it, I'm sure. Maybe he passed in his sleep and she couldn't live without him...hence, the pills. But, we'll see.

That the dog was also dead made me think it must be CO...but the poor thing likely died of dehydration and hunger after both of its guardians were dead.

I hope this isn't the case because it would imply she took her own life knowing it would starve and torture the animals, which to me is more troubling than any of it.

And when you've gotten to the point where you're willing to take your own life, I don't know that you'd plan things out, re: pets, etc.

It all sounds very odd, almost like she might've killed herself, then Hackman fell[?] Maybe needed help but had none.

He died of simple old age. She was so distraught that she took her own life with the pills. She put the dogs out, but one got back in and ate some pills which is why one dog was found dead inside, but the other two were fine.
