Just caught this on the news, here's the breakdown according to the WJS (paywalled).

It's expected to go up by roughly 43%

iPhone 16 will go from $799 to $1500

iPhone 16 Pro Max will go from $1600 to $2300

Apple's manufacturer cranks out (with Apple selling) roughly 600,000 iPhones per day (on the average) every day of the year. That increase is likely going to have a huge adverse impact.

I was thinking of getting the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. If the above increase happens, I'll wait.

Same, I'll just hold out until this idiot either dies or gets replaced. I'm content with my 15 Pro Max until then.

I really don’t see us getting to the point of IP 16 prices virtually doubling but I’ve been wrong a lot. Meaning, I think the cunt-in-chief will back down once the actually rich people express their displeasure with threats that’ll actually get his attention.

I am convinced that the only way to make him "backdown" is to somehow convince him that he won.

No he won't. He is intentionally bankrupting the world so that he and 20 of his hand-picked billionaire friends can rule a North American Empire from the Panama Canal to the Arctic Circle after handing Europe to Putin.

I just don’t think we get that far before Trump blinks. The economy and xenophobia are his things. He’s crushing it on the “making brown people suffer for being brown” front.

The economy though? He’s losing support by the day. His ego won’t allow him to lose, so he’ll walk away declaring victory right after getting his ass kicked.

You don’t have to be smart to be an authoritarian. It only requires force of will and cunning, the two traits Trump has in abundance.

He won’t care when the money people complain. Destroying the economy for all but the mega billionaires is the plan. Then he and his inner circle buy up everything on the cheap.

He is now the mafia boss of the world. Every nation and every corporation must come to him and beg for exemptions in exchange for loyalty.

It is now reasonable to state that Donald Trump wields more influence over every human soul on Earth than anyone in history.

There is no political or judicial way out of this. The only mechanisms available will be general strikes (where Trump will shoot people dead in the streets) and military insubordination.
 
I was wrong. Trump blinked on tariffs.

But I stand by my predictions on the mass deportations (which will have an even bigger negative effect on the American economy) and eventual military invasions of Canada and Mexico.

He didn't blink – this was the plan. He wants to look like a tough negotiator and claim that he got concessions. But in reality the economy would be doing well if he hadn't done anything at all.
