Justin Trudeau resigns as Canadian prime minister

Canadian Conservatives are not at all like American RWers.
Oh...you're thinking back 30 years ago. The insanity south of the border has very much infected our rednecks here. Pierre Poilievre is a racist far-right conservative nut job. For most of us, the conservative party (previously the Progressive Conservative Party) has been unpalatable ever since they merged with the Reform party back in 2003. The Reform party was founded in the western part of the country and contained a large faction of white supremacists.

Google "Freedom Convoy" and you'll get the idea. America doesn't have a monopoly on morons. :)

Oh....21+ years, not 30 - but it certainly feels like that long since we've had an option other than the Liberals. It would be interesting to see the NDP get in once to see what they would do (they're far left - very much a socialist party) - and actually the governing provincial government in BC currently.

The Liberal party is more centrist.

I was actually brought up conservative. My grandfather supported the PC party his entire life. He had letters and pictures with John Diefenbaker (one of our prior Prime Ministers) and considered him a friend. My grandfather was a judge and the town administrator for the small town that I grew up in for 31+ years. He didn't talk to me for a couple of years after I announced at a family event that I could no longer vote conservative due to the reform party merger. (He did come around after a lot of the opinions of their less desirable members made it into the press), but would never support any other party.

Ah, now I get it. There was a TV series about a RCMP dude in Chicago, and he had a dog named Diefenbaker.

Trudeau out means the Liberal could have a better chance to win the elections and to not let morons (yes, we have few of those too) get to power.
