This is exciting to me. I think they’re going to do for wi-fi what they did for bluetooth. Hopefully they come out with some sort of mesh router to tie everything together.
My eternal dream is a new Apple router. I have my doubts but perhaps that’s what’s meant by “enhance connectivity” here? I wonder if it would be possible to act as a “generic” mesh point? That is act as a mesh for a third party router. My hunch is no, but perhaps I”m wrong.View attachment 33935

Apple could just buy (or partner with) Ubiquiti and rebrand the Dream Router and Unifi Express. When I had to replace my (non-Apple) WiFi access point and couldn't decide which current one to get, I instead went with a refurbished AirPort Extreme.
When it arrived, the manual was missing, but I already had it plugged in. I wanted to search for a PDF, but instead macOS asked me if I wanted to configure the AirPort Extreme it just found. Yes, I would, thank you.
Easiest integration ever.
I'm not sure if Apple want to get into that market again, but I defintely wouldn't say no to an updated AirPort.
