During and after the Trump administration, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy became a frequent target for Democrats for deliberately crippling the postal system, and they frequently pledged to have him ousted after taking power. I was one of those who looked forward to his replacement, so I was surprised to read the following story in Time this week:

It turns out he's been doing a pretty good job after all, and highlights the need for thoughtful cooperation across the political spectrum. That isn't to say Trump didn't appoint truly deplorable and corrupt cabinet members and other officials, but DeJoy wasn't one of them.

Louis DeJoy's tenure as Postmaster General has sparked contentious debates. While some view his business-oriented approach as a potential catalyst for efficiency, others criticize his cost-cutting measures as detrimental to postal services. Regardless, his leadership presents an opportunity for dialogue and collaboration. By engaging in constructive discourse and leveraging his experience, stakeholders can work towards modernizing the postal system while preserving its essential role in American society.
