So essentially we have no rules whatsoever for those making the most important decisions of a generation. Both parties should agree to write some laws around this.

However, of the four people who have gifted him all of these things over the years they're saying none have had any cases in front of him. So while the optics are bad there appears to be nothing illegal about any of it.
 
It absolutely hurts the mind to think that anyone would consider this kind of stuff routine lodging or meals, or even gifts in a traditional sense. A billionaire gifted him a Rolex - once - twenty years ago? Don’t care. Buys your mom a house? Gifts a family member/friend tuition? Luxury trips? Private loans which you don’t qualify for otherwise? Helicopter rides? Private jet travel? How many people are gifted around 38 trips amounting to hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars?

This isn’t just a lack of ethics getting out of hand, this is literal corruption. This is stereotype, cartoon-imagery corruption in real life. When George Carlin gets on stage and talks about the “owners of this country” having bought and paid for all the politicians and judges, this is literally the kind of exaggerated imagery that comes to mind..

When you're in a certain class and a business leader you always have cases in front of the supreme court at least indirectly.

I guess I’m failing to see why it matters, if that’s the argument Thomas and others are making. Stop accepting these gifts if you’re a judge.

Regardless of what the rules and laws are, or if what Thomas did is legal, it needs to change.

Thomas is lucky he’s not a democrat, the conservatives would have gone for him ten times harder as the democrats, and called him a criminal who should be in prison. I don’t think dems are saying any of that - just that he’s corrupt and the rules need to prohibit this kind of behavior moving forward. Anyone who thinks this is any less corrupt than Hunter Biden profiting from being a famous guy’s kid is wrong.

Actually, it’s way worse. Hunter Biden is nobody, this is a Supreme Court justice.

I’m sure that’s the only true part of the story. One guy gets to buy a Supreme Court justice and the other gets millions in free perks that 99% of the human population never get to experience. I’m sure they’re great friends.
