The not-serious-about-photography part I get, and the wanting to commemorate a visit to a location where they normally don't go and may never return -- a solo version of the old days of Dad lining up the family in front of a sign, a monument or historic vista in order to snap a photo demonstrating that the  family was there......That at least makes some sense (until the individual whips out his or her selfie stick and blocks everyone else's view)!   Smartphones have made it all-too-easy to shoot photos just about anywhere at any time.    What about all those FB/Instagram and other social media images of people showing themselves doing something not-so-special on pretty much a daily basis?  Just as bad as sharing photos of one's breakfast, lunch or dinner on a daily basis.   What makes someone think that anyone else would really care?

Shooting photos on the moon -- now that's a worthwhile and definitely unique selfie!
