Some Intel engineers want a union

When I was designing CPUs for AMD, Sun and Exponential I would *never* have wanted a union. Not sure what’s happening up there in Oregon, though.

That would never fly here. I don't know the Oregon culture well enough to speculate about up there. I guess it depends how often those 80 hour weeks occur. And why (poor planning, risks not understood, inexperienced project managers, too many new hires, etc).

In the past at three different SV companies I'd occasionally need to work long hours to help keep a project on track, as did other engineers. But that was relatively rare and not a big deal.
