Sounds like a DA may be reversing the decision of the jury and reducing their sentence to manslaughter, which will let them walk with time served. I'll just say with the savagery they murdered them this is pretty unbelievable. I mean even after all the shootings the mother was still alive and one of them had to go outside to get more bullets, reload, the come back, put the gun to her cheek and then finish the job.

These guys are monsters, not sure what's with today's society that they feel the need to go back and overturn these things. It's like a court of law doesn't matter and we want to celebrate the worst kind of people. I'm guessing those protesting on their behalf weren't around to see the trails 30 years ago and how ugly it all was.

well, the DA can’t reverse the decision of the jury, and the DA can’t reduce the sentence.

The DA can ask a court to do something like that, but hopefully the court won’t.

Thanks for the clarification. The buzz is that the court "may" side with the DA who is lobbying them for a manslaughter reduction, I'm sure there's a more legalize way to get this point across, it's just what's going around.

It’s really hard to overturn a jury verdict, especially in a situation where there is no dispute that the correct law was applied.

Never know what happens, but I would imagine the judge will think long and hard before doing it.

In all honesty, these guys and Ted Bundy are the killers who have always interested me the least. I’ve never found spoofs of the brothers funny (In Living Color, which I loved). I remember being confounded by the crime as a young kid because I had a single mother and killing always seemed like an unbelievable foreign concept, and killing one’s own parents… I never did digest that well,

I’m not opposed to True Crime stories and I love a good slasher film. Something about these guys though…

I don’t know enough specifics on the recent developments to have an opinion one way or the other.

I do wonder if some people’s opinion would be different if it was 2 women who killed their parents after a lifetime of mental and sexual abuse, assuming that element is believed. For some people I think they would find that part a lot more believable based on them being female and also wouldn’t have to confront whatever icky feelings they may have about gay sex.

The brutal nature of how they did it is just too hard for me to overlook. Even if their claims of abuse were true it was just so heinous, that whole thing where one had to go back out to the car, reload, and then shoot his mother in the face because she was still alive crying for help is so hard to even imagine.

The issues raised are pretty similar to the Sara Boone trial. You don’t get to kill your abuser and claim it’s self-defense unless it’s actually self defense. Going out to the car and reloading, and shooting your mother who, afaik, was not accused of anything, ain’t gonna fly.
