The new Xeons are bad, even 2 year old AMD Threadripper Pros beat them.

So yeah idle power of 140 watts anyone?

the AMD one idles at 47 watts not bad for a 64 core cpu but man that Xeon.

Oh wow. Is Intel‘s die interconnect technology so bad or did they drop the basic power management from these things? Doesn’t make me feel optimistic about their upcoming multi-die laptops…

Looks like the Windows Power Profile matters more on Intel than it does on AMD. I do find it interesting that there is a big difference on Intel platforms though, AMD used to include a custom power plan in its Windows chipset drivers (not sure if they do anymore). Since the older Intel chips have the same power discrepancy I wouldn't say anything is broken per se, Intel is clearly choosing to not sleep any of the chip when in the High Performance state (they clearly do for Balanced). I suspect AMD Zen 4 Threadripper/Epyc will have similar high idle.
