I don't care what side one falls on here in this war but the fact that they strip content that you already had recorded to your DVR (not VOD) is crazy, goes to show that nothing is truly yours unless you have a physical copy of it.

That really sucks. When I finally dropped Dish satellite, it was largely because I was tired of all the disputes that kept resulting in lots of channels being removed all the time. But at least whatever was on our DVRs we got to keep. Of course, with streaming, it’s different because the DVR is in the cloud, not on a hard disk in your tv cabinet.

I had Youtube TV for awhile because I could spoof it into thinking I lived in Manhattan and get SNY from NY, but when they dropped SNY I dropped Youtube TV.

I looked into a DVR/OTA solution and it's actually really cheap and easy from Amazon, up to 50 hours and I could record whatever I want from the big networks. The only issues is where I live there is no reception so I'm out of luck on that. I did use something similar way back when in the Sacramento area and it worked great, you own the hardware, you own the data, simple as that.
