"The Justice Department on Friday released an indictment against longtime Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, and his wife, Imelda, charging the pair with bribery and money laundering related to their ties with a bank in Mexico and an oil and gas company controlled by Azerbaijan.
...
According to the indictment, from 2014 to 2021, the Cuellars allegedly accepted roughly $600,000 in bribes from the two foreign entities in exchange for the congressman performing official acts."

The National Republican Congressional Committee swiftly called on Cuellar to resign.

“If his colleagues truly believe in putting ‘people over politics,’ they will call on him to resign. If not — they are hypocrites whose statements about public service aren’t worth the paper they’re written on,” Delanie Bomar, a spokesperson for the NRCC, said in a statement.”

Tell ya what, Delanie. When all the Republican Congresspeople who voted to overturn the 2020 election resign, Cuellar will too.

isn’t their nominee for president charged with like 100 felonies?

I do think Cuellar should step down.

Step down? He should step up! This is definitive proof that Trump is still President running things behind the scenes because there is no way the corrupt demonic Biden DOJ crime family would go after a Democrat. Unless the charges get reduced to a speeding ticket. Then I would have to concede Biden is in fact, President. But only because the election was rigged!! Or full of fraud! Or the most secure election in our country’s history!

He should resign, immediately. If not, I expect this guy to get pushed out relatively quickly, especially since republicans are in such bad shape and its in the best interest of dems to get rid of this guy ASAP.

Luckily, republicans are so corrupt and in such disarray that even corrupt democrat Menendez isn't creating many news waves. I mean, he'd be all over the news for months if it weren't for Trump. His team and allies have ran a national crime syndicate, it sucks all the wind out of the room, allowing nimrods like Menendez to go damn near unscathed in public.

I remember when Republican House members had integrity, with their leaders demanding Nixon resign immediately after the House Judiciary Committee approved three articles of impeachment and was ready to go forward. Nixon took their advice.

Nobody could've imagined how much worse it would've gotten 50 years later, today's Republicans make those guys look like eagle scouts.

I could not have imagined any of this prior to fatass coming down his gilded escalator.

The last 8 years have made the racist Tea Party republicans of 2008-2015 seem like actual patriots. But only by comparison, they paved the path to the MAGA cult.

Racist Tea Party? Really? The Tea Party movement was about fiscal responsibility. How is that racist unless you are referring to their opposition to Obamacare. Just because we didn't want Obamacare doesn't mean it is racist. We didn't want Clintoncare either and he was white.

It does, though. There was this signiicant possibility that the ACA might help less fortunate people – and, those people might not be white! There were something like 3, maybe 4 Tea-Shirts who were not white. If your ethnic appeal tallies up numbers like that, yeah, racist, count on it.

The Tea party movement was a pseudo white supremacist movement in response to the nation getting its first black president. But the GOP still had a sliver of decency, so other than the events where common Tea Party conservative citizens were literally spitting on black lawmakers, they could masquerade as “fiscal responsibility“ hawks. Well, given the spending of Bush and Trump, it seems they really only had a problem during their moment in the sun in that period in between when we just so happened - coincidentally, I’m sure - to have our first black president in office.

Then Trump came down the escalator and they no longer had to pretend it was about fiscal responsibility, and they could just go back to being old school racist and bigots.

As for Cuellar, maybe it's just a coincidence that he:

1) Is a staunch anti-abortion Democrat, and
2) He has been hammer Biden on the border crisis for months if not years.

He is the House version of Manchin, so no wonder they went after him.

Well that certainly wasn't my reason for opposing it.

Fiscal responsibility? What about caring for other human beings? Where do you think people without healthcare insurance go when they’re sick? They do without or wait until their illness is so advanced that they visit an ER, further burdening a stressed system.

And what ever happened with “repeal and replace?” Neither Trump nor Republicans had or have a viable plan, nor do they care. Just like they won’t care if Social Security is rolled back to pay for tax cuts for people who don’t need them.

These politicians call themselves conservatives, but in fact they’re without concern for others who are less fortunate.
