Here’s something to mull over on Apple’s 50th, and as the “Apple Doomsday Clock” keeps ticking:
How many other so‑called “tech titans” of yore have come and gone in the same stretch? Apple—irrelevant, doomed, and always just one bad quarter away from collapse. The irony writes itself.
Gateway, Compaq, Dell, IBM… You can go on and the list reads like a frick’n tech museum exhibit—a graveyard where some vanished and others shrank into footnotes.
I often find it amusing how a company everyone wrote off keeps outliving the ones that were the darlings—“giants” that stole all the fanfare and who were never supposed to die.
The Doomsday Clock keeps ticking, but midnight’s running late. And that “expiration date”? Turns out it’s a “vintage date.”
