Justice Who Ruled That Embryos Are ‘Children’ Appeared On QAnon Conspiracist's Show

Alabama Chief Justice Tom Parker, who wrote the concurring opinion in last week’s explosive Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos have the same rights as living children, recently appeared on a show hosted by self-anointed “prophet” and QAnon conspiracy theorist.
Parker was the featured guest on “Someone You Should Know,” hosted by Johnny Enlow, a Christian nationalist influencer and devoted supporter of former President Donald Trump. Over the course of an 11-minute interview, Parker articulated a theocratic worldview at odds with a functioning, pluralistic society.

Here is what is wrong with using the Bible as a way to cite Legal arguments. It is not based in facts, it is about faith. The problem with faith is, YMMV.
worse yet no one can agree on anything in the bible.

It might mean something if there was a passage about abortion in the bible. Anywhere in the bible. They are just making stuff up (well, ok, right, we are talking about the bible).

It sounds like a lot of Republicans want to distance themselves from this thing as much as possible. They're already facing backlash from the reversal of Roe v Wade and all the other anti-women laws they've implemented, this is just another nail in the coffin for them.

I hope they go for it. this will be another nail in their coffin.

Majority Of House Republicans Endorse Abortion Ban That Threatens IVF

A large majority of House Republicans released a budget proposal on Wednesday endorsing legislation that would threaten to make in vitro fertilization illegal nationwide. The move is a stunning turnabout after most of the party spent weeks voicing support for IVF following a controversial Alabama Supreme Court ruling that led providers in the state to halt the procedure.
The Republican Study Committee, an influential group that comprises nearly 80% of House Republicans, released its budget for fiscal year 2025, and it backed the Life at Conception Act. The legislation would grant full legal rights to embryos from “the moment of fertilization,” the same logic employed by the Alabama justices who effectively outlawed IVF in the state. The Senate version of the bill had a carve-out to protect IVF, but the House version did not — meaning access to IVF would be vulnerable to restrictions if it were enacted.
