Apple has allegedly solved the crease problem for its upcoming foldable phone.

I’ve been intrigued by this phone ever since I saw the rumored dimensions, which render it a little different than most foldable phones I’ve seen - it’s supposedly going to be about the size of a 3x5 card (with thickness of an iPhone Pro) when folded, and an ipad mini when open, with another useable screen when closed. With my fading eyesight, I thought this might be helpful for me.

Of course, if my upcoming eye surgeries are successful, maybe my next phone will be a tiny iphone instead :-)

Good luck!

Or maybe an apple eye implant!

This is one where I'd want to let some time pass before buying. Also, if it's released in 2026, there'll be time to see what the iPhone 18 and the 20th anniversary iPhone (19 or whatever they call it) will include. For me, camera functionality is important, so I don't mind waiting.

Based on my experience, you will be amazed at how much your vision improves.

I feel the same way. I might be wrong, but a foldable phone, at least in the photo that's going around of what it *might* look like, seems that it could be annoying to use on a daily basis. Both as a phone and as a camera. Camera functionality and image quality are also important for me.

I have a recent iPad mini in addition to my regular iPad. I don't mind carrying the mini around should I be in a situation where I think I'll need it.

As far as I can tell, when closed it will be like a 3x5 card that’s the thickness of an iphone pro. So, more of a book-like aspect ratio. Two cameras purportedly on the back side and screen on the front (when closed). So presumably it won’t have the telephoto lens. But, handling wise, hard to know if it will be better or worse than an iphone pro max for photography. One interesting note is that it seems to me that the screen aspect ratio will be much closer to the sensor aspect ratio.

Thanx... I wasn't aware of the 3x5 card size and iPhone pro max thickness. If it's not annoying/tedious to use for making/receiving calls, and making photographs, that could be interesting. Would just need to spend some time with one in an Apple Store and think about it.

My *guess* is that, in use, it would be exactly like an iphone, unless you decided to open it up and flip it around, at which point it becomes an iPad mini. But we won’t know until we see it.

Another downside (for me at least) is that it will use touchID instead of faceID.
