The boxes for the studio display can apparently be easily broken down to fit in recycling bins (as the guy responsible for cutting up cardboard in my family, I appreciate this, and wish everyone did it).

Of course, if you order one on-line, it probably arrives in brown corrugated cardboard that still needs to be carved up.

[Not a slow news day, so not sure why I’m even posting this, but I find it interesting]

Have a friend who studied packaging and logistics. At the kinds of scale a company like apple operates things like this become really important. It they can reduce package size the can save a lot of material and shipping costs. And if they can make recycling more convenient gear can have meaningful effects. The Studio Displays are unlikely to be the kinds of boxes most dealt with by consumers but the principle will undoubtably carry over to other products. Plus; a great unboxing experience just adds so much to the initial impression

That's great, though I usually keep packaging for equipment like this for when I'm moving. When I relocated cross country a few years ago, having the original boxes and inserts for my Mac Studio and Studio Display was helpful. Unfortunately, I had to use a cardboard container for my printer, so I had to fill the gaps with packing popcorn that got into large and small spaces. I had to fish out pieces for months.

Given the amount of apple hardware in my house, if i kept boxes I’d have no choice but to live inside them.
