Anyone else get notified that they were getting a few months free on top of the first year that comes with an Apple purchase? Got an email yesterday that extends it about 3 months or so.

I’ve enjoyed Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, Little America, and Home. The service is starting to grow on me. Haven’t made a decision if I’ll pay for it but....eh, maybe.
 
Yeah, I thought I read it was like a 6 month extension. Our sub didn't end until Feb, we had already cancelled, so we didn't get the free "re-up". And even though we weren't using it, I still want it for free. :D

They have nowhere near the amount of quality content needed to justify paying for it monthly. They are probably well aware of it. It’s probably another reason they came up with bundle pricing. Also I think they have zero clue on what to release as they try to keep things mostly family friendly. They make Disney look like a porn studio. Personally outside a bundle the only thing I think they offer that is worth a subscription is Apple Music, although I do plan to check out Fitness soon.
 
AppleTV+ has a long way to go to catch up to NetFlix. I played around with it the first few days and it barely had any content so I lost interest pretty fast.

The only thing I subscribe to is iCloud. I didn't like AppleMusic so I use Spotify. I don't need the fitness. I have a Peloton that I use that comes with all kinds of extra goodies.
 
Apple seriously needed/needs to buy into some existing content - I know they wanted to go all original, but that's such a painfully slow model to get a decent amount of content. Netflix, Hulu, D+ and HBOMax have enough properties/studios to make them services you can just sit in for months and not exhaust the available content.

I think they need to re-evaluate, again, consider a substantial change, or they're going to be extending this freebie out again. Buy Sony Pictures and/or some smaller studios (A24), and/or a service that's a studio, back catalog of movies, etc., like Hulu (I realize that there's major caveats in all these, especially Hulu, given Disney's ownership, just saying ...)
 
I got the free year when I bought an iPhone in 2019... I just got an email that my free subscription is being extended to July... so close to 2 years free? I think they extended this because a number of shows should have already aired a 2nd season... but due to COVID, production got delayed.
 
I didn't get the email. Then again, I already rolled my subscription into the big bundle with Apple Music and everything else.
 
I got the notification -- so this gives me a few more months to watch at least one or two programs on there; my hunch is that just as I haven't managed to do so over the past year and a a half that I probably won't by July, either..... Just not something high on my priority list.
 
I got the notification this morning. Since I bundled, they’re giving me a $4 refund for the next few months. Sweet!

I liked the morning show, Ted Lasso, Raven’s Quest, and Tehran... there was a movie about a kid that supposedly killed someone that was pretty good too. I should see what else is there...
 
I can't recall the name of it now but there was a series that sounded really interesting to me and has one of my favorite actresses in it..... That sounded appealing and then there is a sort of creepy suspense one that a lot of people were talking about at the time it was being broadcast, too. I really need to spend some time actually investigating this whole thing while it's still free to me!

Yes, "Servant" is one of them!!!! The creepy, weird one......

The other one I think featured Octavia Spencer as a lead actress but I don't recall the name of it.... OK, ran a Google and it's "Truth Be Told."

Servant is already losing me a couple episodes into Season 2. It's starting to feel like Lost when you start getting the impression they have no clue where they are going with it but they attempt to keep your attention through little plot twists while trying to sort it out.

Yeah I thought Servant was pretty good. I like scary/creepy stuff. I haven't started Season 2 yet. I better get on that.
