Sorry missed this.I'm still largely follow the recipe guy but from those I have also branched out into using things in more experimental cooking like from a chicken fried rice recipe I now put sesame seed oil and hoisin sauce in all kinds of things. I also learned from recipes what things I don't are, like ginger. I knew I didn't like that taste but didn't know what it was.
My housemate is kind of a health nut where taste and cooking quality is secondary to nutritional value. He also burns a lot of food because he refuses to use oil of any kind and is always distracted by his phone like a teenager. I also determined health nut eaters are like people who work on their own car. Their car is chronically broken down and he is chronically eating. Why have 2 to 3 solid meals a day when you can have 15 snack times.
Two things from this:
- dietary cholesterol and "fats are bad for you" is a myth. Provided you're having healthy fats - not trans fats. Cook with avocado oil or REAL olive oil. Not sure your friend will listen to reason, but you can try.
- people that graze all of the time (constant stackers) are SO much more likely to get cancer. You're not giving your liver a chance to kick off autophagy (the process of healing and scavenging of decaying and sick cells). My parents had that lifestyle - snacked all day and started drinking around 2pm. Their livers were always processing food or alcohol. Never an opportunity for healing. No wonder that my Mother battled cancer for 6+ years and lost.
