According to Apple's online purchasing for Mac, there are no longer any pre-configured options. Apple has completely redesigned the way you buy a Mac by aligning it as Apple Watch and iPhone purchases are made: Model, Screen Size, Color, Chip, Memory, Storage. It's all one single page.

It's technically unknown if pre-configured options are going to be produced, but most certainly they will be produced, most likely based on in demand, and then you can order or buy in store and some of them will be in stock and some won't, just like before.

This simplifies and makes it easier to buy exactly the Mac configuration you need.

It's a beautiful and well-designed web page. Thoughtfully laid out like Apple Watch buying

I just played around with configuring a Mac Studio in the mobile app. I like the change, since it’s the way I tend to buy.

I wonder if some people will be confused by all the choices, though. While there’s a way to get more information about each component, more guidance would be helpful. It wouldn’t surprise me if Apple eventually offers AI-based guidance after you describe your use case(s).

I’m a little surprised they are offering final cut pro etc. in the configurator, but not the new subscription option.

They mentioned you get 3 months free for the subscription. I guess they want everyone to take advantage of that first before immediately charging money. Plus, unlike a license, a subscription is timed. If your order is delayed or need to return with a new one, whatever, then that messes up your usage for that month, so both of those things probably affect

well, the subscription timing is something they already deal with for apple care+, so I think they could handle it for creative studio. (They start the subscription when the product ships, in my experience).

Just seems weird selling the $$$ one-time paid versions and not also the subscriptions, especially since the latter has additional features and is what they really want people to buy.

True, which brings me back to giving it for free and mentioning that on the order page. It makes sense when you consider Apple doesn't let people buy Apple TV, Apple Music, etc whenever people buy a new iPhone, but they give that for free with a new purchase. They probably just applied the same thing here, because it's the same expectation people have for other subscriptions. And again, they're being generous in giving 3 months for free. I think they want people to try it first
