You’ll have to scan your face or ID or something. I dunno. People seem very upset about this. I don’t use discord but I know many of you do. So here’s a place to discuss if you’d like.

Yeah I don't either but you have to wonder what led up to this.

This was a regional requirement (UK and maybe Australia) that was put into law a while back. They are rolling it out globally because lowest common denominator.

It's also what state legislatures have been hoping for by passing similar age verification requirements at the state level. Companies will simply comply with the strictest state requirement, and it becomes a de facto national requirement without the federal government getting involved, and over the objections of states that don't support such strict requirements.

So yeah, I do have a problem with precedent such as this.

Discord thinks that the vast majority of people will never be prompted to do age verification. At least not yet, lol.

I'm a Discord user, and I won't provide any additional info. I also, in the near term, won't need to. I don't use any age restricted servers, don't participate in any global activities that require age validation, I mostly just hang out on "private" servers.

If it ever requires age ID just to have an account ... bye! :D

I don’t use discord, and I feel sorry for folks inconvenienced by this. I’ve noticed that recently some projects and companies moved to discord as their central community support platform, so I hope these changes will make them reevaluate their decision.

I do it for Instagram verification but that's optional and provides additional protections but just to be a part of a social network there's no fkn way.
