Currently at the BMW dealership purchasing the i4, a little smaller and slightly less battery but otherwise satisfactory. Tons of incentives which actually brings down my payment considerably. I’ll post pics when all is said and done.
It’s the EDrive 40. Took less of a bath than I thought I would have to.Oh, no shit, awesome!
Which model variant?
More black![]()
Thanks man, feels good to be back in the BMW, in many ways it’s way smoother and more streamlined.More black(see post #42)
Nice. And welcome back to CarPlayProper Messages (with group chat), Maps with dual display (zoomed and full route), etc.

I also did the obligatory selfie giving the Tesla the bird but immediately felt bad about it. In the end it was a decent car that was mostly good to me. It’s just not a BMW, and yes I forgot just how awesome CarPlay is. Oh and this tactile control is as easy as I remember it, no more touch screen.

Well, my wife and I were discussing and agreed that it was time to move on from Musk sooner than later but wanted it to make sense, too. We went to the San Rafael BMW dealership which was much bigger and had way better options than Santa Rosa. In the end I have a much lower payment as well.Sigh. I want one. Soon, I guess.
Black is not my first choice either and I'm sure they were like "we finally got rid of that one" at the lotMore black(see post #42)

This one came with the ceramic coating already on it, probably won't help mask the dirt but maybe it will help with small dings and stuff.

Right, I definitely go for the double pull to use regen braking because I like the benefits of the better battery performance and the Tesla did get me used to that. The only time it would ever glide is at a full charge and it just felt weird.Cool, it's the same but different vs. our interior.
BTW (since the pic shows the drive control) I really dig on the D/B selectable modes, the B is like Tesla one-pedal, lots of regen, slows to a complete stop, handy around town. But on the highway, you want more "coast", you don't want to lift (off the throttle) and have the car slow down too much, that's the D mode, I'll swear it'll coast for miles without any throttle (the regen is lightened up). The regen can be set for 3 levels or adaptive, the latter works really well.
Or if you just prefer the more traditional coast and manually press breaks to stop around down (like my wife), then D is great all the time.
Good to know, appreciate the tip.Black is the best and the worst at the same timeThe ceramic coating will help a lot, contaminants won't stick, water rolls off, it provides some light surface scratch protection.
Get some Griots (I swear by their products) "quick detailer" like Best of Show:

And some good, plush, microfiber towels, and that product will keep it glossy, clean, protected, easy spray on / wipe off.
Congrats on the BMW! How long did it take you to adjust to the one pedal driving? I am still not use to it and find myself double breaking at times, or not judging the distance of the slowdown right.Right, I definitely go for the double pull to use regen braking because I like the benefits of the better battery performance and the Tesla did get me used to that. Not too long really, you'll adjust eventually and then when you get into a situation where it coasts again it'll be just as foreign as the one pedal is now lol. We probably don't think about it much because your body adjusts but there are times I'll use the brakes as well without thinking about it, even with regen but only when really needed.Congrats on the BMW!
