Exactly. No one Harris could have picked would have swayed those people you describe. Anymore than Trump could have picked someone the left would have voted for.

So yes, it is the ones in the middle. The unwashed masses who the elites like to look down upon simply because they make a living with their hands. These are the ones Walz was supposed to appeal to. And he didn't. Not even close. So yes, they knew who they needed to target, but the ammo they picked was not going to do it. Hence my original comment about the person who thought he could appeal to male blue-collar workers should never be allowed around a campaign again.

Not that Walz unfit for a campaign, he won Governor twice and would probably have been elected a third time if the Quality Learing Center owners could spell. He was simply not the right person to do what they hoped he could do.

I think Newsom would have been the best the ticket could have chosen. But he also has more stature than Harris so no way was she picking him. He would have overshadowed her from day 1 and no one at the top of a ticket wants their running mate to be more popular.

Shapiro would have helped her win Pennsylvania for sure, but the campaign was worried that they would then lose the pro-Palenstine vote. And they might have, but he still would have helped her more that he would have hurt her.

As for who can be the masculine figure for the Dems, I really have no idea. I can't see one who will appeal to the non-Maga blue-collar worker. It certainly isn't one of the current nationally known ones, so maybe someone from Texas or other rural areas that isn't known yet. Maybe Mark Kelly. Maybe.

That may be true political strategy-wise, but your other two mentions, Shapiro and Kelly, are much more inspiring, IMHO.
I just hope the dems converge on a good candidate for '28 - I am worried as well.

I'm not so much afraid of the procedure as much as I a waking all dizzy up from the drugs, last time it made me really sick when I sat up.
