Read it for yourself. He explicitly calls out Gurman on Twitter for his nonsense regarding 26.4 rumors

As for the rest, he doesn't go so far as to completely condemn entirely all Apple blogging but probably because he still continues to blog. Otherwise this sounds like a pretty insightful post about MacRumors and what negative effects it has

It is all of the internets. We bring it all here, like an aggregator. Except, of course, into that one section that got sent to the cornfield.
I demand a desk, with one of those green lamps and a big phone with lots of flashing buttons. And a typewriter. IBM selectric.

And a red eyeshade? Pencil sharpener? Carbon paper in the drawer? Pewter filigreed cigar box? And of course you have to have a mahogany-frame Newton's Cradle next to the Lava Lamp.

I’m thinking of starting a new site, called MacRumorsRumors, which will feature rumors about MacRumors. The first rumor is that MacRumors is planning on switching to AI moderators, and they plan to introduce this by the end of February.

Then, in early March, I will report on how they are late with this new feature and that it will be delayed until April. In April I will report on how the feature didn’t function properly during internal testing, and has been abandoned.

Speaking of which, ex moderator wonders why the quality of moderation has dropped.

They breed a culture of reporting and penalties, so much so that even a former mod is complaining when it's not happening enough. Maybe Weaselboy is on break.

yep. Can you imagine having “moderation metrics?” Hey, Eric, I banned 15 vaccine supporters today! That’s up 13% from this time last week!

He's definitely one of those guys who views one of my drone flights and reports it to the FAA. Probably made a hell of a hall monitor in high school.

If I were a mod - likely a good thing I’m not - I’d probably be ban happy over there too. My issue with them isn’t that they moderate too much but rather that they weren’t moderating obviously troll behavior while then moderating people baited by the trolls.

This is the crux of it and the trolls know it, they take advantage of arbitrary rules by baiting others into a gotcha that they know moderators will respond to, while always giving a free pass to said troll. This is why you have so many of them (as users) running the show over there as they've successfully gamed it.

As for those who are able to think for themselves and make sensible cases to defend their position, they're pretty much eradicated.
