Now Gurman saying you’ll be able to use third party AI models all over the OS in iOS 27.

This seems like it could get to be pretty annoying, having to pick between different model options all over the place (and presumably needing accounts on all these things.)

Given the disappointment with Siri (of which I don't have any personal opinion on) Apple maybe doesn't want to anchor themselves to one option that may not end up being the best.

But given their vast resources, I'm kind of at a loss as to why they are seen as towards the bottom or dead last on AI in the tech world. I think I said previously I have my suspicions that Apple hasn't found a great purpose or need for it yet, while others implementing it or developing it just advertise it as the greatest thing ever without qualifying that statement.
