I assume they are just extending the functionality and re-naming it.

Hopefully this allows the framework to take advantage of the Neural Accelerators. CoreML doesn’t seem to currently.

The switch from “ML” to “AI” is significant. Apple knows that “machine learning” is a dated term that no longer resonates with developers or consumers.

I might be childish, but this trend really pisses me off. I think it's rather sad that we as a society are dazzled by fancy information compression algorithms to a degree that we start ascribing them any level of "intelligence".

There's an ad I've been seeing a lot on TV recently for a company that makes glasses, where they are now claiming that the glasses are "designed by AI". As if that was some sort of improvement.

Sounds more like: We don't have the money to employ a properly trained professional, so we used AI instead.

Reminds me of the old ones "this was designed by a mom, not a doctor, so you know it's good (and nothing more than a folk remedy)"
