The reason I ask is because today coming up from Phoenix we hit a backup caused by a wreck and a Car-B-Q. Once we cleared it, we stopped at Sunset point to use the bathroom and then all of a sudden, I-17 was showing closed from Sunset Point north. But traffic was still flowing.
So I hit up AZ DOT via Messenger (they are actually very responsive) and asked if it was closed. They said No, so I took a screen shot of Google Maps showing it was closed until 7pm tonight. AZ DOT said they don't have any input as to what is shown on navigation apps.
So who does? I know traffic is crowd sourced, but someone has to "close" a road. Just always assumed it was the state DOT.
