RIP Hulk Hogan - Dead at 71 after suffering cardiac arrest at Florida home

I have mixed feelings about Hulk Hogan. I was a wrestling fan for years: I even attended several matches and appreciated Hogan's showmanship and athletic ability.

But my respect for him diminished when I heard of his remarks at the '24 Republican convention, when he talked about "real Americans," how the "Trumpites" would run wild, how great things were under the first Trump administration, and how dismal they'd been for the previous four years. So I hope his "peace" is disturbed by the knowledge that his advocacy helped bring chaos that will cause irreparable harm to the country and the world.

I, too, struggled with this when the whole Michael Jackson scandal broke wide open. Finally came to the conclusion, I could separate the music and accomplishments from the man. Hulk Hogan's accomplishment was to elevate a Saturday morning, somewhat circus sideshow industry to the multi-billion dollar entertainment giant it is today.

Not just that but his racism aligns with the MAGA mentality. Fact checked.

I have mixed feelings

I feelings became less mixed when Chuck Mangione died the same day. It was similar to the week that Elvis Presley died, obscuring the passing of Groucho Marx. Or how the death of JFK walked right over the passings of Aldous Huxley and C.S. Lewis.

Republicans getting owned like this is happening on a daily basis. Bunch of hypocritical snowflakes.

I was definitely a Hogan fan - 30-plus years ago. You can’t take away his accomplishments, but you also can’t take away the fact he went from wrestling as a star at MSG many times to showing up to the same arena to attend a white nationalist rally in the form of a “Trump campaign event”.

His last wrestling appearance saw him getting booed badly.

Blatant racism is a hard line for me, and his political activities didn’t give me any confidence it was a fluke or lapse in judgement. For that reason, this guy will not be missing the Hulkster. I’ll save my sadness for Ozzy. And Chuck Mangione - The King of the Hill Curse continues.
