I said it was too cold to sit around the firepit

First, it was 54 degrees. That’s considered a winter hellscape in the Bay Area of CA.

Then it later dawned on me that for most of human history people gathered around fires specifically to keep warm and survive in cold weather, not just to have a forced meditative commune with nature in fairly comfortable weather.

What an asshole.

Oh, me too. The one BIL has a nice big paved patio area, and a sort of built-in fire pit, his property is backed up by woods, I could seriously sit out there for hours, doing, well, nothing really

We bought a fire pit a year ago. It’s a lovely way to spend the evening together.
