Shocking I started this thread, I know. Some will be from my mini zoo.

The one mantis offspring I kept out of about 80. They are doing quite well. Started out about the size of an ant and is currently about half its adult size.

OK, so the birds nest was tiny to you, that mantis looks tiny - my theory: you're a giant.

Probably mentioned this in another mantis post, but the black dot on the eyes that looks like a pupil looking at you is an optical illusion so predators think their ambush tactic didn't work and there's a battle ahead.

I realize I am breaking the rules here, but there isn't a video forum (admittedly probably not enough interest to justify it) and these are more about the visual than a general discussion. Both are aware of my presence and aren't just meandering around aloof.

Found a dead, and totally intact cicada this afternoon, the photo is a touch OOF, I couldn't see very well it was so bright, but anyway ...

Rescued this damsel fly from my greenhouse, kept trying to fly up but was blocked by the roof. I caught him several times and he got comfortable on my hand fairly quickly. Several times because I kept taking pictures and he got bored. Even when I finally took him outside the greenhouse he hung out on my hand for a bit before he flew off. He looks like he's smiling.
