iPhone saves lives

One reason I haven’t upgraded to an iPhone 17 are the rumors that the 18 will have enhanced satellite connection.

As for the SOS function, I dropped the subscription to my InReach because of that feature.

Glad it helped rescue some of the skiers. Saw a report and they got a ton of snow up there.

For those who don't know or may not remember, Tim Cook personally was involved with the idea to bring satellite connectivity and begin the satellite smartphone era. This according to a oft-wrong attention seeker (we all know who it is lol), so take it with a grain of salt if desired, but given Tim Cook's statements about it in public I am confident this is true.

He also said of Apple's health efforts, "if you zoom out way into the future, and you look back and ask what Apple’s biggest contribution was, it will be in the health area."

Also I must say I love both the redesign of the in-progress view of when you're interacting with satellite, and liquid glass as a whole with that UI using it

It feels as good as the feature itself and like a proper, dedicated UI; not some half baked effort that doesn't match the engineering and coordination the feature require. Also the tiny detail in the article where the red of the "SOS" circle shines and reflect into the green glass

Available in more countries too:
