Looks like he was ready to go, and perhaps there is a political calculation as well. The GOP might re-take the Senate in 2022, and if Mitch was willing to block Garland for 10 months, I could see him blocking any Biden nominee for 2 years without batting an eye.

But they jammed through Barrett. Let the Hypocrisy 2022 games begin!

We need to start a pool to guess the reasons muscomitch thinks Biden shouldn't be allowed to pick a replacement.

My first guess would be that musco believes no democrat president should be allowed a supreme court pick in any year that ends with a numeral.

Mitch: Because...

Thanks to Justice Breyer for his service on the highest court. Not an easy job.

Here’s to hoping that the nomination process doesn’t become the typical fucked political up process.

McConnell can’t do much unless he becomes the majority leader. He might stall a bit but ultimately both the committee and the senate are D majority. If the nomination doesn’t go through, it will be most likely on the Dems.

For the record, I think that Mr Garland deserved a full senate vote and I didn’t like what happened.

I think in fairness, since we are losing a liberal justice on the Court, a Republican justice should retire too. ;)

Please no! By looking at the surreal past two years I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a Justice Hillary Clinton and a Justice Donald Trump.

I'd be happy if Biden just keeps on keepin' on the way he's been making federal district court picks... women who've been litigators for the NAACP, ACLU etc.
